Speulderbos
About 11 kilometers from Buitenplaats Elspeterbosch lies the Speulder- and Sprielderbos. This ancient forest is also known as the Forest of the Dancing Trees, a well-deserved nickname. Due to the special conditions under which they grew, the oaks and beeches here stand crooked and whimsical, with twisted branches that give the trees a fairy-tale appearance.
A walk through the Speulderbos feels different than an ordinary forest walk. The atmosphere is calming and at the same time a bit enchanting, especially in the morning when the light falls through the twisted tree crowns or in the autumn when the leaves change color. The forest also offers good opportunities for mountain bikers.
