Sheep flock on the Elspeetsche heide
Throughout the year, the foundation organizes activities around the sheepfold, from the cozy lamb afternoon in spring to the traditional sheep shearing festival in June.
The Elspeetsche heide is definitely worth a visit. The area is beautiful in every season, but in late summer, when the heath turns purple, it is at its most beautiful.
The Elspeetsche heide Route is a marked walking route of 17 kilometers that starts from Elspeet or the nearby Vierhouten. The route takes you past the sheepfold on Stakenbergweg, less than a kilometer from the park. Here the Elspeter Heide Sheep Flock daily roams the heath between Elspeet and Vierhouten under the guidance of shepherd Daphne van Zomeren. An encounter with the flock is one of those typical Veluwe moments you won't soon forget.
