About 16 kilometers from Buitenplaats Elspeterbosch lies Harderwijk, one of the coziest destinations in the region. This historic Hanseatic city combines an atmospheric center with water, nature, and a wide range of activities for young and old.
Stroll through the narrow streets and past the old facades of the city center, which has had city rights since 1231. The Market is the beating heart of the city, with terraces where you can easily sit an extra hour longer than planned. Afterwards, it’s a short walk to the old harbor or the city beach on the Veluwemeer, where you can go paddleboarding, boating, or just sit with your feet in the sand. The Dolfinarium is also a must-see. Harderwijk also has several museums, including the Marius van Dokkum Museum, and plenty of nice shops and restaurants. A day in Harderwijk is easy to fill.
